October One Monthly Goal

The moment I saw the Fall Pumpkin Pillow Sewalong with Bev at Flamingo Toes, I knew I was going to jump on that wagon.  She started the tutorial on September 27th, but we were traveling through SW Colorado, so it would need to wait. We just got home a few days ago and I am anxious to start cutting and getting caught up with this cutie!

I always love to visit quilt shops when traveling, so I kept this project in mind when browsing.  Nothing causes my sewing foot to twitch like a good project just waiting to be started!

Above are the fabrics I've chosen to use in this pillow top.

This is a photo of Bev's Fall Pumpkin Pillow....

So, completing this pillow to the final stitch when adding the envelope backing is my
One Monthly Goal for October.

If I get ambitious, I'll work on my RSC projects from September.
I had gotten the flimsy tops finished before our Colorado trip,
but the basting, quilting and binding still need to be checked off for completion.

This is what I've got for the September RSC orange challenge:

Above, this small runner is based off of Pat Sloan's Soiree block.
The orange triangles were the cut-off ears from the Flying Geese blocks below.
I think it's going to look fabulous when finished!

This second orange runner is a project I've admired in a quilting magazine. I'll add more details later when I git 'er done.

Pick A Pumpkin Blog Hop!

Pumpkin, pumpkin!
Who's got the pumpkin?
We all do!
Every single one of the blogs on this hop has pumpkin projects to share.
Hosted by Carla from Creatin' In The Sticks, a 4-day line-up of bloggers are all spiced up to show you their creations! Follow along and have fun!

My project was almost not a project at all! My sewing machine literally had a break down before I could start. She had to be serviced and that meant a 2 hour trip to the repair shop and a 2 week wait!
I was not a happy pumpkin!

So I opted for a small project. One that I could use on a side table in our sitting room where we read.

Starting off with strips of orange from my stash with
random lengths and widths,
 I sewed them together.

I sewed enough to make a wonky-shaped pumpkin.

Picture-taking here was not a priority, so you will need a good imagination!

Low volume strips were added to make a square.
Loop-de-loop FMQ came next.

Fabrics were auditioned for the binding. (I chose the lower right one.)

With the addition of a stem and leaves that were hand-stitched on,
I am really quite pleased with the final product!
The leaves add a dimensional touch!

My table topper measures 17" x 16" and will sit pretty until I get into the Christmas mood!

Thanks for stopping by!
