Who loves flowers? I do, I do!
I certainly couldn't resist joining in on this blog hop
hosted by lovely Carla at Creatin' In The Sticks.
The one and only rule was to create a project using some form of flower.
I could do that!
Almost.
Sadly, I did not get my project completely finished in time.
The month of May was crazy busy with school jobs and just when I thought I'd have the last week of school free from subbing, I was called in to sub in an Art class. The teacher had broken her elbow, so rather than sew, I was helping kids create.
Then, the day after school was out, we went on a week-long vacation to Sedona, Arizona!
Oh, how we love Sedona...those red rocks! Swoon!
So, now I share what I've got finished so far on my Flower Project.
Hang on til the end of the post for a fun giveaway!!!
I've long admired the Park Bench Posies table runner pattern shown in the
2004 Martingale book titled Stitch and Split Applique.
I've had the page tabbed forever and knew this was the time to get 'er done!
(It WILL get finished!!!)
All fabrics came from my stash. Love that!
Cutting out the shapes was the most time-consuming.
I'm always so anxious to get sewing!
Then the 3 pieces were sewn onto a background square
and the inner parts were trimmed out to reduce the layers.
The squares were cut into quarters and do-si-do we went with new partners!
Choosing a border fabric is soooo difficult!
One by one I eliminated a fabric and settled on the purple.
I'm not too surprised really.
Purple is my thang.
The borders and corners are on, the iron-on batting is affixed.
All is needs is quilting, binding and the time to do it!
(It WILL get done!)
The top portion is the backing fabric (also from my stash) and the leaves need to be sewn on.
After that, all it needs is quilting, binding and the time to do it!
(It WILL get done!)
Kinda looks like a magic carpet, doesn't it? :)
My finished table runner will measure 31" x 50".
I hope you're having fun following along with Where Flowers Bloom Blog Hop!
Be sure to stop at each blog to check out the beautiful creations this week!
