I've been working like a madwoman on my Scrappy Picnic Plaid Quilt.
It's my plan to have it finished by Christmas Eve to give to my son as a gift.
I've been following the Sewalong on Instagram sponsored by The Quilter's Planner.
Prizes have been awarded along the way,
chosen randomly among those who submit photos on their public IG accounts.
This quilt has been a lot more tedious than any other quilt I've made.
Granted, I haven't made too many.
But, for someone completely self-taught,
it's been a challenge and quite a great learning experience too!
I started this project the first week of November.
November was an extremely busy month for work.
Not a whole lot of time was spent sewing.
Last weekend, all of the blocks were made.
I got them laid out in the format I chose, which is different that the pattern design.
Yesterday, all of the blocks were sewn together.
It was basted...is that the worst part, or what?
I hate it!
We got a few photos taken in 4* weather, before quilting.
My man is so caring.
2.5 bobbins later, I am still quilting, using a simple wavy stitch.
I think I may do a few every-other-row wavy stitch cross-hatch-wise, too.
Just cuz.
Soon, I will be binding.
And wrapping that bad boy up to put under the tree!

Looking good!!! I'm amazed at your speed!! Just interested in knowing if you use a setting on your machine for the wave stitch or just "wing it"?

ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating design. That is a very beautiful quilt you made.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to play catch up, it's always so disappointing when the day job gets in the way of fun projects. Love the colors and the layout, very pretty.
