I took a challenge and by golly, I'm going to make it to 31 days!!
I hope I haven't bored you, but maybe inspired you or at least, made you smile.

Today, I am stuck.
I wanted to take outdoor photos of a few things, but the sun was not cooperating.

  1. This is fun. We have many things in common including that I prefer dark chocolate, love baking rather than cooking, am a self taught sewist from books. blogs, and trial and error, I also used to be primary teacher. x

  2. Meeee, too!! -- 2nd grade. (And tutoring in algebra, but could only take high schoolers in small numbers ..... It's a control thing...). And, I played flute and piccolo from 5th - 12th, and still sing in my church choir, only I'm an alto. My pastor's wife and I once got into 'trouble' because we preferred singing the bass line to the alto... I also got a sewing machine for Christmas at a young age, and made clothes for myself and my girls until they were pretty much grown. I made alterations in gowns for the Miss Louisiana pageant for years -- several girls every year brought gowns that were either too small, or inappropriate, and had to have them altered at the last minute.
However, you and I greatly differ in that the kitchen is N O T my idea of a 'fun' room, nor do my hands enjoy digging in dirt (probably because we lived in the Deep South, and it's just way too hot!
Thanks for the facts. It was fun reading them!

  3. we have a lot in common. And a lot opposite which is interesting too.
Your way of presenting the items was well done.
Dark chocolate, ick! Absolutely no offense meant but....
About self taught... it intrigues me when I see that sentence.

Did you ever follow a pattern, read a quilting book, watch a video made by a quilter giving instruction? Has a fellow quilter make suggestions about how to do something differently? Magazine articles teach us techniques to try at home.
To me, even seeing a quilt show is a lesson taught. Seeing what can be done with fabric, know what I mean? We all stand on the shoulders of, and learned from, those who made quilts before us even if they didn't stand in front of us formally.

  5. Good Morning Kathy! I enjoyed reading this post and getting to know you better! We do have a few things that match...like my favorite color is purple, any color of purple is so pretty and purple lilacs are my favorite flower. I also enjoy baking much more than cooking, yet I am very happy that Hubby does the majority of both and I can create for hours and hours! I had a good friend teach me to sew clothing but I mainly taught myself to quilt in the same way that you did. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to reading the next 50! Have a fantastic creative day!
